Groovy Revolution

Wedding Band for Sandhole Oak Barn, Congleton

📍 Sandhole Oak Barn, Congleton
We're on Sandhole Oak Barn's recommended suppliers list - and we've earned that
Sandhole Oak Barn is one of the most established wedding venues in Cheshire. They've been hosting weddings since 1995 - one of the first farm wedding venues in the UK to do so - and in that time they've built a list of suppliers they trust. Groovy Revolution are on that list.
That kind of recommendation comes from showing up professionally, working well with the venue team, and delivering a night that couples and guests remember. If you're planning a wedding at Sandhole and you want a band who already knows the room, the limiter, and what makes that dancefloor go, you're in exactly the right place.
What We Know About Sandhole Oak Barn
What performing at Sandhole actually looks like
Sandhole sits just off the A34 outside Congleton, on a 400-acre working family estate. The Worth family have farmed it for generations, and that heritage shows in every corner of the place - the 300-year-old brick stable blocks, the private six-acre lake, the rolling Cheshire fields full of livestock. It's genuinely beautiful, and it sets a high bar for the evening entertainment that follows.
The main performance space is the Oak Barn - high ceilings, oak beams, wrought iron chandeliers made by a local blacksmith, French doors opening onto the lakeside veranda. It seats 140 for the wedding breakfast and opens to 180 for the evening reception. Here's what we've learned from performing there:
There is a sound limiter in the main barn roof, and it's factory-set. This is the most important practical thing to know when booking a band for Sandhole. The limiter is calibrated for professional wedding bands - it's not punishing, but it requires technique. We're well-versed in managing our mix within limiter constraints: the key is a well-balanced front-of-house sound, careful monitoring, and knowing when to lean on dynamics rather than volume. You won't notice a drop in energy. Couples at Sandhole never have.
The venue has its own AV equipment and stereo system. This can be used between sets if preferred, though we handle DJ duties ourselves as standard - the music never stops.
The lake and veranda shape the evening's atmosphere. Guests often spend the drinks reception outside, and there's a natural lull between the formal end of the meal and the band starting. We know how to take that energy, shift it into first-dance mode, and have the floor full within a few songs. It's one of our favourite moments at Sandhole.
The team are professional and detail-oriented. Sandhole is a family-run venue that prides itself on smooth, well-organised weddings. We always liaise with the venue ahead of the day, confirm our setup window (usually just after 6pm, unless we're there for daytime music too), and make sure our soundcheck is done before guests arrive.

The Band
Five-piece. 20+ years. Sound-limiter specialists.
We're a Manchester-based five-piece with over two decades of wedding experience, performing regularly at venues across Cheshire and the North West. Our sets are built around seamless mash-ups and medleys - tracks blended together so the energy never drops - covering Motown, indie, rock, pop, and dancefloor classics from six decades.
Sound-limiter venues are where experience genuinely matters. A band that hasn't performed at Sandhole before, or at similar venues with active limiters, will either play too quietly and kill the atmosphere, or push too hard and trip the limiter. Neither is acceptable. Our mix engineer know Sandhole's dynamics, and we deliver a full-energy performance that stays well inside the limits every time.

Sandhole Oak Barn - Band Questions Answered
Q: Are you on Sandhole Oak Barn's recommended suppliers list?
A: Yes - Groovy Revolution are listed on Sandhole's official recommended suppliers page at sandholeoakbarn.co.uk/suppliers. The team there knows us well.
Q: Does Sandhole Oak Barn have a sound limiter?
A: Yes - there's an active, factory-set decibel limiter installed in the main Oak Barn roof. It's calibrated for professional wedding bands, which means an experienced band can work within it without any loss of impact on the dancefloor. We're used to performing at Sandhole and similar venues, and our mix is built around limiter compliance. It's never been an issue.
Q: What time can you access the venue for setup?
A: For evening performances, we'd normally arrive at 6pm to ensure we're set up and sound-checked before your evening guests arrive. For daytime music, Sandhole allows supplier access from 9am on the wedding day. We work within that window, coordinate with the venue team directly, and ensure the soundcheck is completed before guests arrive.
Q: All music has to finish by midnight - does that work with your set?
A: Completely. We build every set to the timings you and the venue agree on. The standard Sandhole close is midnight with the Oak Barn shutting at 12:30am - we've worked to that schedule many times and know how to pace the evening to land the finale at exactly the right moment.
Q: Can you also play acoustic music during the drinks reception?
A: Yes - many Sandhole couples book our acoustic trio for the lakeside drinks reception and the full five-piece for the evening. It works beautifully in the outdoor and veranda spaces, and is one of our most popular combinations at this venue.
Q: Can you learn our first dance?
A: Often, yes. We've learned first dance tracks outside our standard repertoire for many couples. Tell us the song you have in mind and we'll let you know what's possible.
Q: How far in advance should we book?
A: Heaton House Farm is one of Cheshire's most popular wedding venues and their Saturday dates - especially spring and summer - go very early. We'd strongly recommend checking our availability as soon as you have your date confirmed with the venue.
